At the end of last term Creeting St Mary CEVAP was lucky enough to be given 60 hedge and copse saplings by the Woodland Trust as part of their ‘Free Trees for Schools and Communities’ campaign.
What a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn all about planting, tree care and the benefit of trees to both the school and the planet!
We were also very pleased to receive a generous donation of 6 big bags of soil improver from a local company Material Change, to give the saplings the best possible start.
Some very enthusiastic children got digging and learnt how to plant and protect the saplings. After much hard work, muddy boots and fun we now have a hedge dividing the top and bottom of the field, and a swathe of saplings along the very bottom of the field that will hopefully develop into a beautiful nature area in years to come.
Ash Class have seed bombs to plant when the frosts have passed so we are looking forward to an exciting and colourful year of growing in 2021!
